Bangkok TWIG Joint Procurement Initiative (JPI)

The documents informing the Joint Procurement Initiative (JPI) have been finalised by World Concern, with support from IRC and IFRC. Please contact Kathleen Rutledge (krutledge@wcasia.org) of World Concern for digital copies.

World Concern have a logistics team in place which is ready to receive and handle orders for procurement in compliance with the attached documents.

The objective of the Joint Procurement Initiative (JPI) is to facilitate joint purchases of kits outlined in the Emergency Shelter Cluster (ESC) strategy, by agencies in Bangkok, for delivery to Myanmar.

The priority of the JPI will be to procure and deliver Household Relief Kits and Community Toolkits using the WFP led Logistics Cluster's airbridge. Though the initiative was generated by the Bangkok TWIG, the current focal point for the JPI is World Concern, who are providing logistics and administration staff for a period up to 3 months.

Agencies interested in participating will be asked to sign a Letter of Understanding (LoU) with World Concern and conform to standard operating procedures. There is no obligation to purchase items through the JPI even if an agency has signed the LoU and World Concern is providing these services at no cost.

By purchasing together, it is envisioned that agencies will:

  1. attain a lower price for relief goods through bulk purchases;
  2. economise on logistics for transport to Myanmar; and
  3. ensure uniformity of kits and conformity with minimum standards.

For further details on the JPI, please contact Kathleen Rutledge (krutledge@wcasia.org) of World Concern.
